The EFW Story
In the fall of 2002, Scott Fisher saw the enormous potential of bringing a global logistics solution to one of the largest LTL carriers in the country. Billy Hupp, Executive Vice President of Estes Express Lines, was open to discussing the opportunity. After his meeting with Mr. Hupp, Mr. Fisher began preparing his business plan which was accepted by the company's President, Rob Estes, and Estes Air Transportation was officially opened in September 2003.
During the first 4 months of business, Estes Air generated in excess of $565,000 in revenue and since that time, the company has seen tremendous growth. In 2008, the company opened an international office in Charleston, SC and Estes Air became a licensed Customs House Brokerage. As a licensed OTI, NVOCC and an IATA endorsed agent, the company was now able to offer complete, in-house solutions for its customer's international needs. Since then, the company has added gateway operations in New York, Chicago, Miami, San Francisco, Los Angeles and Dallas as well as an office in Hong Kong. To further enhance the speed and efficiency of its import services, Estes Air also became a C-TPAT Partner (Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism).
In early 2009, Estes Air opened an Exhibit Services Division in Cherryville, NC, a Government Services Division in Richmond, VA and changed its name to Estes Forwarding Worldwide. The name was changed to better reflect the broader array of services offered in the midst of growing demands in the global logistics and transportation industry. To further enhance the customer experience, EFW restructured the company from a centralized operating model to 6 regional offices throughout the United States.
Mr. Fisher attributes the company's overall growth and success to his strong belief in the simple idea that if you take care of the customer, the rest will take care of itself. "From the first day, our focus has been on the customer and providing the best experience each and every time they engage us," remarks Mr. Fisher. "One thing is for certain, we are passionate about our focus and will never deviate from it."
